It seems that anywhere in Norfolk with "Next-the-Sea" in its name is at least a mile inland. This is certainly true of Wells-Next-the-Sea, but the two are linked by the fine little Wells Harbour Railway.
The 10¼" gauge line, runs from the Town to the Pinewoods Holiday Park, just short of the beautiful sandy beach, and at one time it held the record for the world's narrowest narrow-gauge railway running a scheduled passenger service.
Although the railway does own a steam engine, Edmund Hanney, most of the work these days is done by a pair of "steam outline" diesels.
