Not high enough or large enough to attract a lot of attention from serious walkers, the Long Mynd just to the west of Church Stretton makes up for it in sheer overwhelming beauty.
Most of these photos were taken on the walk shown on the left. I did not have a large scale map of the area, otherwise I would have headed for the car park at Shooting Box, which looks a better bet.
Just to the north of Church Stretton is the extremely popular Carding Mill Valley. However, if you drive up to the top end of the valley away from the Visitor Centre and then walk a few hundred metres from the car park, the crowds virtually disappear.
