When a local builder was renovating a property in Burns Yard on the other side of Whitby, he knocked through a wall in the attic and discovered a complete Victorian jet workshop sealed up behind the wall.
It was carefully removed and can now be found in the Whitby Jet Heritage Centre, a craft workshop, at the far end of Church Street.
First recorded in 1867, this was one of around two hundred or so that once flourished in the town, employing over a third of the population.
On can only hope that some of them enjoyed better accommodation than this dusty cramped little attic.
