Thanks for your kind comments. I suppose it is inevitable these days that anything worth seeing will be difficult to see because of all the people looking at it; I just feel privileged to have had the opportunity to visit the site before it became famous.

Hey Anthony, loved your write up. In one sense it is a shame that the monastery has been restored, however it needed to be protected from the growing tourist footprint. The archaeologists who live on the rock each summer work very hard to restore the archaelogical remains without loosing any of the character. Although there are more boats than when you first went out in the 1970's the government in Ireland has capped the total number of boat licenses (boats allowed to land at the island) to 13, this limits the number of passengers able to visit the island each year, so you are one of the lucky few. Im glad you enjoyed the trip, and if you are ever back in Ireland contact us for another trip to the island, a particularly special event you could try and aim for is the Sermon performed on the rock to the angels. All in all a very spiritual place. Sean Feehan http://bestskelligtrips.com/
